Marlene L. Nelson, 72, of New Castle passed away the morning of May 31, 2020 at UPMC Jameson Hospital. Born July 19, 1947 in New Castle, she was a daughter of James and Helen (Singer) Palmer. A New Castle High School graduate, Marlene was employed at Walmart in the delicatessen until her retirement. Prior to that she applied her humor and compassion for others taking care of those in need in the home health service. She will always be loved and missed by her daughter, Charie Nelson; son, Lance (Noelle) Matiste of Poland, Ohio; two brothers, Jim Palmer of North Carolina and Ted Palmer of New Castle; and two grandsons, Mason and Matthew Matiste. She was preceded in death by her parents. Visitation will be held on Friday, June 5, from 4:00 – 6:00 p.m. at the R. Cunningham Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc., 2429 Wilmington Road.
