Martha I. Aiken, age 94, of New Castle, PA, passed away peacefully on December 28 at Shenango on the Green in New Wilmington, PA.

Born on May 2, 1929, she was the daughter of the late Michael and Anna Brilla Cifra. She married James E. Aiken on January 29, 1954; he preceded her in death on June 22, 1991. Martha graduated from Union High School in 1947 and earned her R.N. degree from Jameson School of Nursing in 1950. She retired as the Employee Health Nurse at Liberty Mutual Insurance Co. Following retirement, she continued to use her nursing skills as a volunteer for Jameson Hospice. Martha enjoyed walking, reading, cooking, and participating in activities at Challenges Options in Aging. She especially treasured memories of family vacations in Georgian Bay, Ontario and Stone Harbor, NJ. Martha was a member of Grace United Methodist Ministries in New Castle, PA.

Surviving are two daughters, Jane E. (Stew) Snyder of Warren PA, Nancy E. Aiken of New Castle; two sons, Timothy (Valerie Johnson) Aiken of Brookeville, MD, and Patrick J. (Donald Blouin) of West Greenwich, RI; two grandsons, Daniel J. (Erica) Snyder and Travis Snyder of Pittsburgh, PA; and four great grandchildren. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by one brother, Frederick J. Cifra, and two sisters, Helen M. Tebay and Ann B. Megan.

Visitation will be at R. Cunningham Funeral Home, 2429 Wilmington Road, New Castle, PA, on January 2, from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. A funeral service will be held on January 3, at Grace United Methodist Ministries, 135 Decker Drive, New Castle, PA, at 11:00 a.m.
