Martha J. Hunt, 81, formerly of Hickory and Union Township , passed away the morning of April 3, 2019 at Quality Life Services New Castle. Born March 31, 1938 in Union Township, she was the daughter of Orville and Sarah (Matthews) Hunt. After her graduation from Union High School, Martha was employed with Fisher Brothers Dry Goods in downtown New Castle until the company became Fishers Big Wheel and moved to Neshannock Township. She was a secretary in the buying department of the Corporate Office until the company dissolved. She later worked with Love Heating and Cooling in New Castle. Among her many interests, she loved the outdoors and flower gardening. She was artistic, hence her enjoyment for painting and artistic drawing. She was creative with decorating and she especially loved country music. Martha was a friend to many. She had a great sense of humor and loved to make others laugh, was deeply devoted to her family and was known for caring for and helping others. She had a special fondness and rapport with children and the elderly. Martha enjoyed her cats, Peaches and Patches. She was of Presbyterian faith. She is survived by two sisters and a brother-in-law, Shirley (Lewis) Cover of New Castle and Anna May Wonsiecki of Beaver Falls; one sister-in-law, Margaret Hunt; nieces, Cindy (Bill) Allen, Phyllis (Thomas) Lane, Debbie (Gregory) Kwolek, Kathy (Sean) Dippold and Tracy (David) McCart; nephews, James Hunt and his significant other, Lisa, Gary (Brynna) Hunt and Jeff Wonsiecki; 13 great nieces and nephews and 2 great-great-nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by three brothers, William (Pat) Hunt, Marvin Hunt and James (Eileen) Hunt; a brother-in-law, Henry Wonsiecki; and a special friend, Linda Myers. There will be a one hour visitation Sunday from 2:00-3:00 p.m. at the R. Cunningham Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc., 2429 Wilmington Road, followed by a 3:00 funeral service.
