Martin Schwartz, 87, of Pittsburgh, passed away the night of March 10, 2015 at Charles Morris Nursing and Rehab Center.
Born November 30, 1927 in Sharon, PA., he was a son of Samuel Schwartz and Rosalyn Schwartz-Lebby.
He was preceded in death on January 20, 2014 by his wife of 61 years, Phyllis I. Solomon Schwartz, whom he married June 7, 1952.
Martin was a graduate of the University of Pittsburgh and served in the U.S. Army from 1945-1947.
He owned and operated Love Heating and Cooling of New Castle for 25 years. Prior to that, he was a partner with his brother, Jack, in the Schwartz Company, home builders.
He was not only a member of Temple Hadar Israel, but also served as past president. He was also past president of the Nathan J. Love chapter of B'nai Brith.
In addition to being an avid golfer, Martin was also was a ham radio operator, enjoyed fishing, and had many other interests.
He is survived by one son, Stuart Schwartz of Churchill, PA; two grandchildren, Abby Boyd of Boulder, CO., and Benjamin Cripps of Austin, TX; and one great-grandchild, Tara Boyd of Boulder, CO.
In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by a daughter, Terry Woodside, and two brothers, Joseph Schwartz and Jack Schwartz.
Visitation will be held on Sunday from 1:00-2:00 p.m at the R. Cunningham Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc., 2429 Wilmington Road.
A service will take place Sunday immediately following visitation at 2:00 p.m. at the funeral home with Rabbi Howie Stein officiating.
Burial will be in Temple Hadar Israel Cemetery.
