Mary Alice Stoner, 87, of New Castle, passed away the afternoon of September 1, 2015 at her residence.
Born May 28, 1928 in Pulaski, Pa., she was a daughter of Muryl and Mildred Thickett Boyd.
She was preceded in death on September 7, 2003 by her husband of 52 years, Dick Stoner, whom she married December 25, 1950.
A graduate of Union High School, she was employed as a switch board operator for Bell Telephone and Jameson Hospital.
A member of the Castle Pistol Club, Mary also enjoyed crocheting, sewing, reading, bowling, and puzzles.
She was a member of Clen-Moore Presbyterian Church.
She is survived by one daughter and son-in-law, Roxanne and Doug Senchak with whom she made her home; one brother, Thomas Boyd of New Castle; a sister-in-law, Karen Franklin of New Castle; 3 grandchildren, Aaron (Lisa) Senchak, Nicolas Senchak and Joshua Senchak; 1 great-granddaughter, Alonna Senchak; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by two sisters-in-law, Mae Boyd and Shirley (Robert) Collins; and a brother-in-law, Larry Stoner.
Her family wishes to express a heartfelt thank you to all her compassionate caregivers; her niece Sissy, Laura, Allison Belinda, Juanita, Nikki, Kristy and Jessica.
Visitation will be held on Thursday from 2-4 & 7-9 p.m. at the R. Cunningham Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc., 2429 Wilmington Road.
A funeral service will take place on Friday at 11:00 a.m. at the funeral home with Rev. Chris Weichman officiating.
Burial will be in Mt. Hermon Cemetery.
