Mary B. George, 87, of New Castle, passed away the evening of March 7, 2014 at her residence.Born July 23, 1926 in Uniontown, PA, she was a daughter of Charles C. and Gertrude Shafer Bell.She was preceded in death on December 5, 2009 by her beloved husband of 62 years, Harold F. George, whom she married May 17, 1947.Mary was a graduate of Uniontown High School and a member of Northminster Presbyterian Church.She was a homemaker and enjoyed taking care of her husband and their five children. She was an avid Steelers fan and season ticket holder. Her greatest joy was spending time with her family and grandchildren.She is survived by two daughters, Joy (Dewey) Dennis and Sue (Brian) Pontius of New Castle; three sons, Harold F. George, Jr. and Geary (Doris) George of New Castle, and Charles E. (Daveen) George of Cocoa, FL; one brother, Thomas Bell of Butler; 11 grandchildren; 5 great-grandchildren; and 4 great-great-grandchild.In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by 4 sisters, Betty Jane Weaver, Nina Jean Woodward, Lois Kegg and an infant sister; 2 brothers, Charles and Donald Bell; and 1 great granddaughter, Alyssa Laurenza.Visitation will be held on Tuesday, March 11, 2014, from 4-8 pm at the R. Cunningham Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc., 2429 Wilmington Road, New Castle.A funeral service will take place on Wednesday, March 12, 2014, at 11:00 am at the funeral home and will be officiated by Rev. Andrew Jillson.Burial will be in Oak Park Cemetery.
