Mary Louise Beckert, 92, of New Castle, passed away the morning of December 23, 2016 at UPMC Jameson. Mary was born on December 5, 1924, in New Castle, to the late Charles E. and LaRena Palmer Eddy. She married Joseph P. Beckert on April 16, 1949. He preceded her in passing on November 22, 1986. Mrs. Beckert was the owner and operator of Mary Louise Beckert's Beauty Shop and pursued her passion for hair dressing for 80 years. She was a graduate of New Castle High School and New Castle School of Beauty. Mary enjoyed crocheting and was active at Challenges were she volunteered until the age of 91. Mrs. Beckert was a devoted member of Calvary Independent Church. She is survived by her daughter, LaRena Klamer of New Castle; 4 sons, Paul L. Beckert and Edward C. Beckert, both of Jensen Beach, FL, Carl R. Beckert and Morris E. Beckert, both of New Castle; one sister, Clara F. Spiker of Massillon, OH; 7 grandchildren; 7 great grandchildren and 7 great-great grandchildren. In addition to her parents and husband, Mary was preceded in passing by one brother, Harold Eddy; one sister, Alice Huffman; one granddaughter, Michelle Beckert and one great granddaughter, Malia Beckert. Visitation will be held on Friday, December 30, 2016 at the R. Cunningham Funeral Home & Crematory, Inc., 2429 Wilmington Rd., from 5-7 pm. Funeral services will be immediately follow the visitation at 7:00 pm at the funeral home. Rev. Charles L. Fombelle will officiate. Burial will be in Castle View Memorial Gardens.
