Mary Louise Biddle, 97, of New Castle passed away March 10, 2016 at Sharon Regional Hospital.
Born April 14, 1918 in Hopedale, Ohio, she was the daughter of John Harrison and Amanda Belle Snyder Filby. She married Billie W. Biddle on January 13, 1938 whom preceded her in passing on June 30, 1991.
She graduated from Trinity High School in Washington, Pennsylvania. Mary went on to pursue her education as a licensed practical nurse with S.R.M.C. She was the first person in Pennsylvania to be certified as a Medical Assistant by the A.A.M.A.
She was employed as a nurse for Dr. Shaffer and Dr. Mansell for 20 years.
Mary was a former member of First Christian Church and a member of Edinburg Christian Church.
She was a life member of the Order of the Eastern Star Wimodausis and President of the former Bessemer Women's Club. She enjoyed being a member of several card clubs and was an avid Steeler fan.
Mary is survived by one son, Harry (Judy) Biddle of Hermitage; five grandchildren; eleven great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in passing by one brother, John Filby; and one sister, Anna Mae Reynolds.
Visitation will be on Sunday from 2:00-6:00 PM and on Monday from 10:00-11:00 AM at R. Cunningham Funeral Home & Crematory, Inc.
A funeral service will immediately follow visitation on Monday at 11:00 AM at the funeral home with Rev. David Snyder officiating.
Burial will be in Castle View Cemetery.
