Mary D. Bonfield, born in Peitrabbondante, Italy, immigrated to the U.S. at the age of 12, passed away peacefully at the age of 103 on February 5, 2017.
Daughter of the late Domenick and Marianne Tesone Mancini, she was preceded in death by her beloved husband, John A. Bonfield; son John R. Bonfield; daughter-in-law Marilyn G. Bonfield; great-grandson Nolan Himes; sister Vera Parente; and brother Joseph Mancini.
She is survived by her son Reggie (Marianne) Bonfield of Pittsburgh; daughter-in-law Rachelle Bonfield of Lititz; grandchildren Lisa and Marianne Bonfield of Lititz, Christopher (Stefany) and Jonathan Bonfield of Nashville; great grandson Brady Himes of Lititz; and devoted Katina Teenee Tanner. She also is survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
A special thanks to the staff of Cumberland Crossing Manor for their kindness and care over the last four years.
She was a life-long member of the St. Vitus Church.
She loved cooking, music, traveling, being with family and spending hundreds of hours making afghans that she gave to family and friends.
Her love will be missed and felt always.
Visitation will be held on Friday from 3:00-7:00 p.m. at the R. Cunningham Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc., 2429 Wilmington Road, New Castle.
A funeral procession will leave the funeral home at 10:00 a.m. for a mass of Christian burial at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at St. Vitus Church, 910 S. Mercer Street, New Castle with Father Joe Codori officiating.
Burial will be in Castle View Gardens.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Marys name to the Nolan Michael Himes Foundation, 408 E. Second Avenue, Lititz, PA 17543.
