Mary C. Caravella, 89, formerly of West Pittsburg, passed away the afternoon of April 9, 2010 at Jameson Hospital North.Born June 29, 1920, in Marion, Ohio, she was the daughter of Antiono and Mary DeNillo Tomai. She married Angelo Caravella and he preceded her in death on July 5, 1967. Mary retired as a teacher's aide with the New Castle School District and prior to that, she had worked at A&M Market in the meat department. She enjoyed gardening, cooking and watching old English mystery movies.Survivors include a son and daughter-in-law, Steve and Phyllis Caravella of Pulaski; two brothers, Robert Tomai of West Pittsburg and Anthony Tomai, of West Pittsburg; five sisters, Martha Bunce of Cleveland, Ohio, Dorothy Caldararo of Hillsville, Rose Tomai of New Castle, Esther Johnston of California and Florence Monk of California; two grandchildren, Courtney Caravella of Pulaski and Cody Caravella of Pulaski; and several nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews.She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Angelo; and a sister, Madelyn Mackey.Visitation is 5-9 p.m., Monday, April 12, 2010, at the R. Cunningham Funeral Home and Crematoy, Inc., 2429 Wilmington Road.A funeral service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Tuesday, April 12, 2010, at the funeral home. The Rev. John Yergan of First Baptist Church will officiate. Burial will be in Oak Park Cemetery.
