Mary W. Carr, 98, formerly of New Castle and Ft. Myers, Florida, passed away the morning of Sunday, December 29, 2013 at Grove Manor Nursing Home in Grove City, PA. Mary was born October 14,1915 in Slippery Rock Township to William A. Wright and Josephine White Wright. She was preceded in death on June 16, 2000 by her husband of 65 years, Howard H. Carr, whom she married July 27, 1934. She was an insurance agent with the Barron-Rogan Insurance Agency. Prior to her membership at Tower Presbyterian Church in Grove City, she was a member of Second Presbyterian Church in New Castle. Mary was Past Matron of Chapter 105, Order of the Eastern Star in New Castle, and of Wimodausis. She is survived by one son, Kenneth Carr, and his wife Janet, of Grove City; a daughter-in-law Judy Carr of Wisconsin; nine grandchildren; twenty-eight great-grandchildren; six great-great-grandchildren; a sister, Adah Gosnell of Poland, Ohio; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents and her husband, she was preceded in death by a son, William Carr; one sister, Lauretta Taylor; a brother, D. Allan Wright; a grandson, David Carr; and a great grandson, Keenan Packard. Visitation will be held on Thursday, January 2, 2014, from 10:00-11:00 a.m. at the R. Cunningham Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc., 2429 Wilmington Road, New Castle. A funeral service will take place immediately following visitation Thursday, January 2, 2014, at 11:00 a.m. at the funeral home. Officiating will be Mrs. Carr's niece, Rev. Jodie Smith. Burial will be in Graceland Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the Tower Presbyterian Church, 248 S. Broad Street, Grove City, PA 16127, or to a charity of the donor's choice.
