Mary Nan Cox, age 93 of New Castle, passed away the morning of Nov. 15, 2020 at UPMC Presbyterian Hospital. Born February 28, 1927, in Sharples West Virginia, she was the daughter of the late Elbert and Hannah H. (Gore) Doss. On October 30, 1944, she married her first husband of 43 years, Fred Cox. He preceded her in death on August 19, 1988. Subsequently she married her second husband of 4 years, John B. Gibbons. He preceded her in death in 1995. Mary was a 1945 graduate of Sharples High School. She worked at Four Ways Sales as the bookkeeper, for many years. Mary enjoyed going to church and singing, but most of all, she enjoyed the time she was able to spend with her family. She was a long-time member of Bessemer Assembly of God. Mary is survived by three sons, Fred D. Cox (Nancy) of Evansville, IN; Timothy C. Cox of New Castle, PA; Jonathan D. Cox (Kaye) of Natural Dam, AR; 6 grandchildren, 8 great-grandchildren, and 1 great-great grandchild. Mary was also preceded in death by a daughter-in-law, Pauline Cox. There will be a private service on Saturday, Nov. 21st at 10:00 AM, at the R. Cunningham Funeral Home & Crematory Inc., 2429 Wilmington Road, New Castle. Burial will be at Castleview Cemetery.
