Mary Elizabeth Drew, 77, of New Castle, went home to be with her Savior Jesus Christ, the afternoon of April 12, 2018, at her residence. Born May 13, 1940, in New Castle, she was the daughter of the late Oliver and Mary F. Emery. She married John R. Drew, Sr. on August 17, 1968. He preceded her in death on October 5, 2000. Mary graduated from Laurel High School and then went onto earn her early childhood development degree, from Valley Forge Christian College. Over the years, Mary worked as a parks caregiver, a preschool teacher and also worked in a daycare. Mary enjoyed reading, crossword puzzles, volunteering, going to church, bible study, and going to yard sales. She was a member of First Assembly of God. What gave Mary the most joy in life was spending time with her dogs and cats, her family, but especially her grandchildren. Mary is survived by one son; John R. Drew, Jr. and his wife Jennifer, of New Castle, two brothers; Kenneth (Arlene) Emery of Mercer, Pa., Alvin Emery of New Castle, and three grandchildren; Brady Shore and Shyllo and Wyatt Drew. Along with her parents and husband, Mary is preceded in death by six brothers; Jim, Clifford, David, Oliver, Charles and William Emery, and four sisters; Violet, Charllotte, Rebecca, and Patricia. Visitation will be held on Saturday April 21, 2018 from 12:00-3:00 PM at First Assembly of God, 2021 Pulaski Road, New Castle. A service will be held immediately following visitation at 3:00PM with John Williams officiating. Burial will be at Rich Hill Cemetery, Volant, Pa.
