Mary E. Betty Horchler, 93, formerly of Hunters Woods Blvd., passed away the evening of October 16, 2018 at Shenango-on-the-Green in New Wilmington. Born April 23, 1925 in Jackson Center, she was the daughter of James and Hannah (Webb) Robson. She is survived by her loving husband of 72 years, Russell L. Horchler, whom she married June 1, 1946. Mary was a graduate of New Castle High School and instrumental in organizing many of her high school class reunions. She worked as a secretary at Forneys Inc. for 10 years. She was a member of the Jameson Junior Guild for 35 years and served on the Board of Directors of the YWCA. Mary assisted Rev. Sam Fleming of the First Christian Church in organizing the first and subsequent Christ Child Festivals. Previously a member of First Presbyterian Church, Betty taught Vacation Bible School for many years and had served as a trustee. In more recent years she was an active member of Highland Presbyterian Church. In addition to her husband, she is survived by two sons, Russell T. (Mary Ann) Horchler of Ft. Myers, Florida and Jeffrey W. (Valerie) Horchler of Erie, Pa; a daughter, Nancy B. (Harry) Hammond of Hermitage, PA; one brother, Henry Robson of Grove City; three grandchildren, Danica (Dustin) Reed, Kristin Kollar and Alyssa Beth Horchler; and four great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by two infant brothers; one brother, Paul Robson; three sisters, Marjorie McAnallen, Twila Brazel and Ethel Brown; and one grandchild, Tara Leigh Horchler. Private family services were held at the R. Cunningham Funeral Home & Crematory Inc., 2429 Wilmington Road, New Castle. Burial will be in the mausoleum at Castle View Memorial Gardens.
