Mary Ann Evrard, age 68, of New Castle, formerly of Crafton, PA., passed away the afternoon of Sept. 6, 2021, at UPMC Passavant- McCandless Hospital in Pittsburgh. She had been battling MS for the last eight years. Despite being vaccinated and taking all precautions, she was also struck with COVID in July. She fought it valiantly for five weeks. Sadly, she lost that battle and got to go home with her Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. Her family has full confidence she is in heaven and no longer suffering with any pain.
Mary Ann was a devoted wife, mother and Nana to her grandchildren. She was a passionate Steeler fan and loved to garden and sew. More than anything though, spending time with her family gave her the most joy.
Born Aug. 6, 1953, in Pittsburgh, PA, she was the daughter of the late William (Bill) Cuff. Her mother, Clare (Carson) Cuff, survives at home.
On March 1, 1974, she married her beloved husband of 47 years, David Evrard. He survives at home.
Mary Ann graduated from Shadyside Hospital School of Nursing (Class of 1974) and was employed by Jameson Hospital in New Castle from 1979 – 2014. During her faithful years of employment, Mary Ann worked in the ICU/CCU, Cardiac Rehab, Cardiology, Cath Lab, and was a Critical Care Nurse Educator. After 35 years of employment, Mary Ann had to leave on medical disability, due to MS.
Along with her mother and husband, survivors include one son, Christopher (Jacque) Evrard of Enon, OH; two daughters, Rachel (Sean) Martin of Zelienople, PA, Jessica (Jason) Detec of Niles, OH; five sisters, Karen (Bill) Neal, Nancy Powell, Susan (Bruce) Hammond, Bernadette (Tim) Chapman, and Loretta (Bob) Shaw; and six grandchildren, Carson and Clara Evrard, Brielle Martin, Micah, Nora and Lydia Detec.
In addition to her father, Mary Ann was preceded in death by her older brother, William Cuff, her sister-in-law, Ann Cuff, and her brother-in-law, Raymond Powell.
In keeping with her wish's services will be private, for the family.
