Mary Layton, 83, of 3116 Matthews Road, Edinburg, passed away the evening of March 3, 2011 in Jameson Memorial Hospital.Born September 28, 1927 in Fleetwood, England, she was a daughter of John and Mary Cookson Cartmell. She married Harold R. Layton on October 29, 1953. He survives at their home in Edinburg.Mary was a homemaker. She was a member of First Christian Church and a previous member of the Junior Women's Club. She enjoyed woodcarving, gardening and spending time with her grandchildren.In addition to her husband, she is survived by two daughters and one son-in-law, Jan Stevenson of Hudson, Ohio and Karen and Ronald Bobic of New Castle; one sister, Dorothy Cummins of Australia; and four grandchildren, Michael Stevenson, Matthew Bobic, Adam Bobic and Ethan Bobic.She was preceded in death by her parents, two sisters, Margaret Fryer and Edith Cartmell; and two brothers, John Cookson Cartmell and Leslie Cartmell.Visitation will be Monday, March 7, 2011, from 3:00-4:00 p.m. at the R. Cunningham Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc., 2429 Wilmington Road.A memorial service will be held immediately following visitation at 4:00 p.m. The Rev.
