Mary J. Manifrang Phenicie, age 91, formerly of Edinburg, went home to be with the Lord the afternoon of April 17, 2016 at Jameson Hospital. Born January 30, 1925 in Poland, Ohio, she was a daughter of Clinton F. and Luonia Sutphin Jones. Mary was preceded in death on May 27, 1964 by her first husband, Andrew Manifrang, whom she married in August, 1946. She subsequently married Thomas Phenicie on March 12, 1965 who passed away in December, 1995. After graduation from Poland Seminary High School, she was employed with Universal Rundle as a secretary and Bell Telephone as a switchboard operator. She later enjoyed being a homemaker. A member of Wayside Emmanuel Church, she attended the Ladies Missionary Group. She also taught Sunday school at the New Castle Bible Church. Her greatest joy in life was spending time with her family. She enjoyed sewing, crossword puzzles, reading and playing cards. Many people were encouraged by her greeting card ministry. She was an avid sports fan and never missed an opportunity to watch her grandchildren play ball. She is survived by her daughters, Janet (Rev. Randy) Crum with whom she made her home, and Linda K (Jim) Patrick of Orlando, FL; one son, Mark (Nancy) Manifrang of New Castle; one sister, Beatrice "B.T." Householder and husband Cliff of Homosassa, FL; one sister-in-law, Beej Jones; a brother-in-law, Vince Mariotte; 6 grandchildren, John, Greg, Jason, Brandon, Justin and Josh; 9 great-grandchildren, Jacob, Laney, Tori and Payton, Geno and Giada, Macey, Brady and Alleia; and many nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents and both husbands, she was preceded in death by four sisters, Margaret Gliemmo, Ora Ida "Lois" Kilgore, Geraldine Flesch, and Barbara Mariotte; and four brothers, Clinton "Bud" Jones, Glenn Jones, Donald Jones and Charles "Butch" Jones. A one hour visitation will be held on Wednesday from 5:00-6:00 pm at Wayside Emmanuel Church, 4437 Mitchell Road, New Castle. A Memorial Service will take place immediately following visitation Wednesday at 6:00 pm at the church with her son-in-law, the Rev. Randy Crum, officiating.
