Mary Alice Shuler, age 98, entered into her Lord's presence Wednesday, September 28, 2016 at the Shenango Presbyterian SeniorCare in New Wilmington, Pa. She was a former resident of Union Township.
Mary Alice was born on February 2, 1918 in New Bedford, Pa to Clarence H. and A. Goldena Cover McClenahan. She married Chester M. Shuler on November 10, 1938 on her family's farm in Edinburg, Pa. He preceded her in death on October 24, 1994.
The oldest member of Northminster Presbyterian Church, she served as deacon, member of the Friendship Class and volunteered at all church functions.
Mary Alice was a life member of the Order of Eastern Star, Chapter 105 and Wimodausis.
She attended Walters one room school in Mahoning Township and later graduated from Union High School, class of 1935.
Mrs. Shuler worked thru the years at the National Radiator Works, Shenango Pottery, and retired as the bookkeeper at Butz Flowers after 27 years of service.
Mrs. Shuler enjoyed travel, dancing, scrapbooking and photo albums. She was a wonderful cook, with pies as her specialty.
Survivors include two daughters and son-in-law, Kay (Jerry) Stiffler and Dianne Ginocchi both of New Castle; two grandchildren, Halle (Brian) Stolze of Burgettstown, Pa. and Adam (Denise) Ginocchi of New Castle; four great grandchildren, Milan and Annalise Ginocchi and Cassidy and Briana Stolze; two sisters-in-law, Dolly McClenahan of Pittsburgh and Delores M. McClenahan of New Castle; and a number of nieces and nephews.
Mrs. Shuler was preceded in death by her parents; husband; son-in-law Angelo Ginocchi; and two brothers, Lee and Dale McClenahan.
Visitation will be held on Friday from 4:00-7:00 p.m. at the R. Cunningham Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc., 2429 Wilmington Road, New Castle.
A funeral service will take place Saturday at 11:00 a.m. at the funeral home with the Rev. Andrew Jillson officiating.
Burial will be in Oak Park Cemetery.
