Mary E. Ward, 78, of Neshannock Township, passed away the afternoon of January 12, 2018 at West Penn Hospital in Pittsburgh. Born March 19, 1939 in Orlando, Florida, she was the daughter of Homer "Red" Singletary and Elizabeth Witchard Singletary. Mary was preceded in death on September 19, 2015 by her husband, Robert R. Ward, whom she married June 10, 1955. A graduate of Orange County High School, Mary was employed in New Castle at the former Axe's Market as a clerk and cashier for 20 years. She then worked for 10 years in customer service with Butler Refrigerated Meats until her retirement in 2002. Among her many interests, she enjoyed quilting, sewing and baking. She loved to color, write poems and read her Bible. She was a member of Neshannock Community Church. Surviving are her three daughters, Judi (David) Axe of New Castle; Carol (Gregory) Ferrucci of Edinburg, and Carmen (Walter) Mielke of Kennerdell, PA; three brothers, Nolan Singletary and Michael Singletary both of Florida, and Robert (Susan) Singletary of West Virginia; three grandchildren, Sam (Megan) Mielke, Lucas (Laura) Ferrucci and Andrew Ferrucci; and two great-grandchildren, Tonilynn and Dylan Mielke. In addition to her parents and her husband, she was preceded in death by one sister, Nadine Rucker and two brothers, Stafford Singletary and Orlan Singletary. Visitation will be held on Monday from 5:00-8:00p.m. at the R. Cunningham Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc. 2429 Wilmington Road. A funeral service will take place on Tuesday at 10:00 a.m. at the funeral home with the Rev. Bill Rupert officiating. Burial will be in Graceland Cemetery.
