Matilda 'Tillie' Louise Mitchell, age 94, of Shenango Twp., went to be with her Lord and Savior, the early morning of Aug. 12, 2024, at UPMC Mercy Hospital.

Born Feb. 28, 1930, in New Castle, PA, she was the daughter of the late Harry and Marie (Smith) Barton.

On Sept. 26, 1953, she married her husband of 68 years, Kenneth L. Mitchell, Sr. He preceded her in death on Aug. 23, 2022.

For several years, Tillie worked for Romar Textiles until her retirement. She loved crocheting, gardening, ceramics, word puzzle books, and most of all, her family. Tillie will always be remembered as a strong, tough, Godly woman. She is now with her husband together forever, in Heaven. She was a faithful member of Castlewood Alliance Church.

Survivors include two sons, Kenneth L. (Barb) Mitchell, Jr., of New Castle, PA, and Allen R. (Laurie) Mitchell of Puryear, TN; one daughter, Cindy Mitchell, of New Castle, PA; one sister, Barbara Barton of New Castle, PA; seven grandchildren, and eleven great-grandchildren.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by three brothers, Wiliam Barton, Harry Barton, Frank Barton, and his wife Ardith, and one sister, Nancy Bintrim.

Visitation will be held on Thurs. Aug. 15th from 10:00 AM – 12:00 PM at the R. Cunningham Funeral Home & Crematory, Inc., 2429 Wilmington Road, New Castle.

A funeral service will take place immediately following visitation on Thursday, at noon at the funeral home, with Pastor Jim O'Hara, of Castlewood Alliance Church, officiating.

Burial will be alongside her husband at Castleview Cemetery.
