Maxine (Klamar) Sampson, 91, of Neshannock Township passed away the morning of April 12, 2024, at Winding Trails in Boulder, CO. Born on December 5, 1932, in New Castle, PA, she was a daughter of the late George Michael and Susanna E. (Stoffick) Klamar. On January 8, 1955, Maxine married Richard A. Sampson, also of New Castle.

As a child, Maxine grew up in the area of New Castle known as Sheep Hill. She loved to ice skate and play piano as a child. While attending New Castle High School, Maxine's family moved from Sheep Hill to a farm in Neshannock Township located off of Pulaski Road. It was in this location that Maxine and her family spent many happy hours on Sunday afternoons when they would all get together. During her junior year in high school, she first met an upper classman, Richard A. Sampson, who was a popular track star. They dated a few times before Richard graduated, and then joined the Air Force. After Maxine's graduation, she went to work at Universal Rundle as an office clerk, and then at Troutman's as a salesclerk. Several years after her marriage, she worked as a teller at Citizen's Bank in Neshannock, and eventually was promoted to bank manager.

Maxine was a longtime member of Highland Presbyterian Church. She enjoyed family trips to Lake Erie and to the family's Kennerdell cabin along the Allegheny River. After retiring from her bank manager position, she helped her husband with his real estate rental business. Maxine also loved watching Jeopardy, doing crossword puzzles, and walking in Pearson Park.

She is survived by two daughters, Nancy Sampson of Orange Beach, AL and Cheryl (Kim) Schuler of Boulder CO; one sister, Loretta Matosky; three grandchildren, Jessica Schenk, Niya Schenk, and Anthony Supino; and five great-grandchildren Christopher Schuler, Shyla Jennings, Oliver Ber, Micah Holman, and Tristan Holman.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Richard A. Sampson, her parents, and her sisters; Marie Bruno, Susan Jordan, Dorothy Logue, and Helen Trott. Interment will be in Castle View Memorial Gardens, Neshannock Township.
