Melva Jean Pelini, age 86 of New Castle, passed away on April 8, 2020, at her residence. Born April 29, 1933 in Portersville, PA, she was the daughter to the late Walter Braden and Mary Emmaline (Gallagher) Sumney. Melva attended New Castle High School. She worked for Kodak Camera, as a machine operator. She enjoyed yoga and still attended classes up until the fall of 2019. She was always ready for her Saturday breakfast and shopping with her dear friend Dottie. Melva is survived by her beloved son, Richard Pelini of New Castle, PA; daughters, Rebecca (Jack) Freed of Hickory, Twp. PA, Karen McKay-Hoydic of Monroe, MI; loved grandchildren, Christie, Justin, Todd, Alissa, Autumn, Heather and Ben; seven cherished great-grandchildren; and her loved sister-in-law & companion, Arliss Sumney; also her niece and nephews and families. In addition to her parents, Melva was preceded in death by two brothers Ed and Reade Sumney. In keeping with her wishes, there will be no visitation or services.
