Michael Parish, 64, of Portersville, passed away the afternoon of May 16, 2016 at McConnells Mill State Park.
Born January 8, 1952, Michael was a son of Lloyd E. and Beulah A. Stickle Parish.
He married Mary A. Litwinowicz on August 3, 1974. She survives at home.
Michael graduated from Laurel High School in 1970 and from Slippery Rock University in 1992 with a degree in communications. He was employed by Penn Power (now FirstEnergy) as a line engineer.
A faithful servant of the Lord, he was a member of Grace Community Church in Cranberry and Crestmont Alliance Church in Aliquippa. He was also a long time member of the Church of Christ in New Castle where he served as treasurer.
Mr. Parish had many hobbies, but his greatest joy was playing with his grandchildren. He enjoyed traveling the US, playing guitar, photography, kayaking and bicycle riding. He was a tireless volunteer at Uncommon Grounds Cafe in Aliquippa, PA and the director of Celebrate Recovery in Aliquippa.
Surviving him is his wife; two sons, Ryan M. (Lori L.) Parish of Memphis, Tennessee and Troy A. (Carla) Parish of Grove City; two brothers, David Todd (Cheryl L.) Parish of New Wilmington and Timothy Ray (Mary Beth) Parish of Slippery Rock; two sisters, Jill D. Rovini of Hubbard, Ohio and Patty A. (Jay) Downing of New Castle; and seven grandchildren, Ali, Asher, Kates, Paige, Eli, Alina, and Anya.
Preceding him in death were his parents.
Visitation will be Friday from 5-7 p.m. at R. Cunningham Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc., 2429 Wilmington Road, New Castle.
A memorial service will take place immediately following visitation at 7 p.m. Friday with Rev. Herb Bailey of Uncommon Grounds Cafe and Rev. Ron Nagel of New Life Baptist officiating.
Memorial contributions may be made in Michael's name to Celebrate Recovery at Uncommon Grounds Cafe, 380 Franklin Avenue, Aliquippa, PA 15001.
