Obituary

Mildred Frances Anttila, age 96, died peacefully at home on Thursday, November 20, 2014 in New Castle, Pa. Millie saw the silver lining in every cloud and never passed up an opportunity to laugh. She encouraged and loved everyone she knew. She was active in her church, the Ladies Aid Society, and TOPS, and was a member of the Golden Girls. She loved line dancing, singing, and especially enjoyed spending time with her family, all of whom will miss her dearly. She was preceded in death by her husband, William Samuel Anttila, her daughter, Lori Annette McCandless, and a grandson, Brett Harrison Anttila. She is survived by two brothers, Carl and Eugene Dengler, of New Castle, Pa.; sister Sarah Wright, of Richmond, Va.; three daughters, Joyce Hayward of Keene, N.H., Sandra Jessel of Sevierville, Tenn., and Sherry Cwiakala of Xenia, Ohio; and two sons, Samuel of St. Joe Beach, Fla. and William of Sisters, Ore. She is also survived by 14 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild. Visitation will be from 2-5 p.m. Sunday, November 23, 2014, at R. Cunningham Funeral Home on Wilmington Rd. in New Castle. Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Monday, November 24, 2014, at Christ Lutheran Church on East Washington St., also in New Castle, with interment immediately following in Oak Park Cemetery. The family asks that any memorial contributions be made to the Jameson Hospice Group.
