Obituary

Mildreth Evelyn Peterson Parsons, 95, of Walnut Creek, CA went home to be with the Lord on July 4, 2018. Mildreth (Millie) was born in Greenville, PA on May 22, 1923 to Murray Peterson and Genevieve Wilkes Peterson. She graduated from Penn High School in 1941. During her high school years, Millie enjoyed dancing and roller skating. She moved to New Castle, Pa. in 1941 to attend beauty school, and during World War II, she worked at the Johnson Bronze Company. She was a true Rosie the Riveter. There she met the love of her life, David Edward Parsons. On October 31, 1943 they were married at the First Congregational Church by Rev. Jones. As members of this Welsh church, they attended regularly with their four children. The Parsons Family relocated to Concord, CA on June 26, 1966, and joined the First Christian Church. Millie was in retail sales, active in Christian Woman's Fellowship, Bible Study Fellowship and volunteered at Kaiser Hospital. She is survived by her four children; Joyce Parsons Ridge of Walnut Creek, CA., William Parsons (Diane) of Concord, CA., David Parsons (Viki) of Fremont, CA., and Yvonne Parsons Hanson (Jerrold) of Walnut Creek, CA. She was loved dearly by eight grandchildren; Justin Ridge, Andrea Hanson, Alecia Hanson Farsight (John Paul), Joel Hanson, David Parsons III, John Parsons, Daniel Parsons, Jacob Parsons, and great grandchildren Jeralyn and Mark Farsight. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Dave in 1978, and her brothers Harry, Milton and Douglas Peterson. She is survived by siblings Genevieve Peterson Bluedorn of Pennsylvania and Raymond Peterson of North Carolina. A Memorial Service to celebrate Millie's life, will be held at the R. Cunningham Funeral Home & Crematory, Inc., 2429 Wilmington Road, on Saturday, September 29, 2018. Family will greet friends from 10:00 am - 11:00 am.
