Myrtle E. Callen, 72, of New Castle, passed away the morning of March 11, 2019 at UPMC Presbyterian Hospital in Pittsburgh.
Born February 4, 1947 in Butler, Pennsylvania, she was the daughter of Howard and Elizabeth (Finley) Claypoole, Jr.
Myrtle attended Moniteau High School and was a homemaker. She attended Wayside Emmanuel Church.
She is survived by one daughter, April (Dave) Fertig of New Castle; two sons, Randy (Nina) Callen of New Castle and Russell (Dee) Callen of Akron, Ohio; one brother, Ronald Claypoole of New Castle; one sister, Jean Keidel of New Castle; 5 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren; and her life-long partner, Merle Ealy.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by one son, Bruce Callen and two sisters, Florence Burk and Bessie Stoner.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, March 13, from 2:00-4:00 and 6:00-8:00 at the R. Cunningham Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc., 2429 Wilmington Road, New Castle.
A funeral service will take place on Thursday at 11:00 at the funeral home with Pastor Bryan Warner of Wayside Emmanuel and Pastor Joseph Zingaro, family friend, officiating.
