Nellie B. Beal, age 86, of Hookstown, PA, passed away peacefully the early morning of Nov. 13, 2023.

Born Sept. 23, 1937, in Shippingport, PA, she was the daughter of the late Henry F. and Myrtle B. (Hayward) Ewing.

On June 3, 1955, she married her best friend, and the love of her life of 61 years, H. Duane Beal. He preceded her in death in 2016.

Nellie was a graduate of Midland High School. She was a homemaker who loved taking care of her family, which was always her number one priority. Nellie enjoyed many mornings and evenings, sitting on her porch, admiring the wildlife, her flowers and looking over the home she made. She treasured the times she was able to spend with her family, but what gave her the most joy was being with her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. Nellie will always be remembered as kind and caring. She was a faithful member of Green Valley United Methodist Church.

Nellie is survived by one daughter, Cynthia 'Cindy' (Charles) Flaim of Hookstown, PA; three sons, Duane 'Duke' Beal of New Manchester, WV, John (Shelly) Beal of Hookstown, PA, Richard 'Rick' (Darla) Beal of East Palestine, OH; one sister, Betty Herron of Aliquippa, PA; one sister-in-law, Lillah Beal of Hookstown, PA; 10 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren, 1 great-great grandchild, and numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents and husband, Nellie is preceded in death by her siblings, PVT. Robert Ewing, Josephine Temple and Patricia Deane, and several brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law.

Visitation will be held on Thurs. Nov. 16th from 10:00 AM – 12:00 PM at Green Valley United Methodist Church, 170 Kerona Road, Shippingport, PA, 15059.

A funeral service will take place immediately after visitation at the church, starting at noon, with Pastor Susan Pickering, officiating.

A private burial will take place alongside her husband at Mill Creek Hill Cemetery.
