Nile J. Simpson, Jr., 89, formerly of E. Fairfield Avenue, went to be with his Lord and Savior the morning of April 8, 2014 at Golden Hill Nursing Home.Born May 14, 1924 in New Castle, he was a son of Nile J. Simpson, Sr. and Agnes J. Hall Simpson.He is survived by his loving wife of 66 years, Grace R. Kish Simpson, whom he married October 10, 1947.He was a 1943 graduate of New Castle High School, and served in the U.S. Navy during WWII as a Pharmacist's Mate Third Class.Nile was employed with Flowline Corp. as a Jr. Executive in purchasing and traffic control, retiring after over 40 years of service.He was a member of the Masonic Lodge #243 and the Shriners. Nile was a member of the Shenango School Board for 10 years, and on the Board of Lark Workshop. An active life member of First Baptist Church, he served as a former Trustee and President of the Men's Bible Class.In addition to his wife Grace, he is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Deborah and Lee Martell of New Castle; two sons and a daughter-in-law, N. James and Susan Simpson of Seaford, DE and Mark R. Simpson of New Castle; one sister, Katherine Oprean of New Castle; 4 grandchildren; 3 great grandchild; 2 step-grandchildren; and 4 step-great-grandchildren.He was preceded in death by his parents and 3 brothers, Frank, Robert and Russell Lee Simpson.Visitation will be held on Thursday, April 10, 2014, from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. at the R. Cunningham Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc., 2429 Wilmington Road.A funeral service will take place on Friday, April 11, 2014, at 11 a.m. at the funeral home and will be officiated by Rev.John Yergan.Burial will be in Graceland Cemetery.Memorial contributions may be made to the Shriner's Hospital, c/o Syria Temple, 1877 Shriners Way, Cheswick, PA 15024 or First Baptist Church, 984 W. Maitland Lane, New Castle, PA 16105.The New Castle Area Honor Guard will conduct military rites on Friday at the funeral home at 11 a.m. prior to the funeral service.
