Norma J. Amalong, 88, of New Castle, passed away the night of April 8, 2021 at Clen-Moore Place.
Born December 28, 1932 in Castlewood, PA, she was the daughter of William and Lillian (Neal) Nelson.
She was preceded in death in June, 1991 by her husband, Elvey R. Amalong, whom she married on September 4, 1954.
A 1950 graduate of Shenango High School, Norma was employed as an office clerk with Penn Power and Pennsylvania Tool until she began working for First Merit Bank in the checking department.
She was a member of Castlewood Christian & Missionary Alliance Church where she served on the fellowship committee and helped with children's church.
Baking, sewing and attending the Sparkler's Bible study were among her varied interests.
She is survived by two daughters, Kimberly (Paul) Colella of New Castle and Cathy (Jerry) Fraley of Bunker Hill, West Virginia; three sisters, Beverly Panarella, Alice "Joyce" Stunkard and Claudia Giddings all of New Castle; two grandchildren, Michele and Matthew Colella; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by three brothers, Neil, Bob and Richard Nelson.
The family wishes to extend a heartfelt thank you to the caregivers at Clen-Moore Place for their compassionate care for Norma.
Visitation will be held on Monday, April 12, from 1:00-3:00pm at the R. Cunningham Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc., 2429 Wilmington Road.
A funeral service will be held immediately following the visitation at 3:00 with the Rev. James O'Hara officiating.
Burial will be in Graceland Cemetery.
