Norma E. Patterson Dicks Howard, 95, of Patterson Road, New Castle passed away on Saturday, Feb. 19, 2011 in the Golden Hills Nursing Home.Born June, 4, 1915 in New Castle, Norma was the daughter of the late Austin S. and Effie M. Shaw Patterson. She married Roy N. Howard in 1980 and he preceded her in death on February 19th, 1990. Previously she married G. Lester Dicks on June 21st,1934 he also preceded her in death on March 19th, 1970.Norma graduated from Eastbrook High School and worked in the kitchen of the County Home for 18 years before retiring in 1964. She enjoyed cooking, crafts, ceramics, embroidery and gardening. Norma was a member of Rich Hill Presbyterian Church and Wimodausus.Survivors include three daughters, Mildred L. Emery, Opal M. Stitt and Jean M. Stewart all of New Castle; a step daughter, Dorothy and Ronald Baker of Ellwood City; three sons, Raymond W.and Martha Dicks of Ellwood City, William L. and Patricia Dicks of New Castle Robert E.and Irene Dicks of Portersville; a step son, Don and Gayle Howard of Sharon. She is also survived by 15 grandchildren five step grandchildren, 26 great-grandchildren, nine step great grandchildren, 12 great-great-grandchildren as well as several nieces and nephews.In addition to her parents and both husbands, Norma was preceded in death by three brothers, Roy, Hubert, and Raiford Patterson; two sisters, Mildred Gibson and Mary Swartzlander; as well as one grandchild; and one great-grandchild.Visitation will be Tuesday, Feb. 22, 2011, from 6:00 untill 9:00 p.m. at the R. Cunningham Funeral Home and Crematory, 2429 Wilmington Road, New Castle.A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, Feb. 23, 2011, at 11:00 a.m. at the funeral home with The Rev. Rich Horn officiating. Burial will follow in Rich Hill Cemetery.Memorial contributions may be made to the Rich Hill Presbyterian Church, 3616 State Route 168, Volant, Pa. 16156.
