Olive Elizabeth Heminger, 96, formerly of Old Butler Rd, New Castle, passed away the evening of October 12, 2015 at Golden Hill Nursing & Rehabilitation in New Castle.
Born March 24, 1919 in Wurtemburg, PA., she was the daughter of Ambrose Updegraph and Myrtle Leah Smith Adams. She was preceded in death on April 24, 1988 by her loving husband , Robert Wayne Heminger, whom she married in October 1941.
Olive enjoyed baking very much. She was employed as a Pie Maker at the B&B Restaurant for 28 years.
She was honored as a 50 year member of First Alliance Church in 2004.
Olive is survived by two daughters, Joan (Bruce) Aiken, and Denise (Ralph) Martone, both of New Castle; one son, Robert Wayne (Joan) Heminger, Jr. of New Castle; one sister, Dollie Bovard of New Castle; 7 grandchildren, Rhonda (Scott) Gibson, Gary (Amy) Aiken, Robert (Celsa) Heminger, III, Michelle (Phil) Savanovich, Dwight Heminger, Michael Martone, and Matthew (Giuliana) Martone; 4 great-grandchildren, Jasmine Heminger, Maddie, Elliot, and Logan Martone.
In addition to her parents and her husband, she was preceded in death by one son, Gary Lee; 7 sisters, Bertha Filer, Loretta Roberts, Wilna Owens, Nellie Constance, Sue Patton, Doris Rigby, and infant sister; 4 brothers, Robert Adams, Chuck Adams, George Paul Adams, and Rev. Jack Adams.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday from 5:00 - 8:00 p.m. at the R. Cunningham Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc. 2429 Wilmington Road.
Visitation will also be held from 10:00-11:00 a.m., Thursday, followed by a funeral service at 11:00 a.m. at the First Alliance Church, 111 Mission Meade Drive with Rev. Dr. Scott Gibson & Rev. Philip Harrison officiating.
Burial will be in Castle View Gardens.
