Oliver R. (Ron) Kerr, 84, of Angela Lane, New Castle, passed away the afternoon of September 23, 2012 at Overlook Medical Clinic, in New Wilmington, PA.Born April 15, 1928, in Harlansburg, he was a son of Oliver Kerr and Lela Belle Patterson Kerr. He married Joan McKee Kerr on February 17, 1951. She preceded him in death on October 19, 1983.He subsequently married Alice Rea Kerr on June 6, 1987 whom survives in New Castle.He was a graduate of Eastbrook High School and served in the U.S. Navy as an aviation storekeeper during the Korean War.Ron was employed by Chambers Motors for over 30 years as a car salesman.Among his many interests, he enjoyed bird watching and cars. He was a fan of Nascar, the Pittsburgh Pirates and the Steelers. He especially loved spending time with his children and grandchildren.Ron was a member of the First Presbyterian Church where he was a deacon and loved to sing the hymns. Prior, he was active in the Eastbrook Presbyterian Church.In addition to his wife, he is survived by two daughters, Mary Jo Wilson and her husband James of Volant, PA and Rita Foht of Erie, PA; two sons, James R. Kerr of New Castle and David S. Kerr of Memphis, TN; one twin brother, J. Russell Kerr of New Castle; nine grandchildren, Charles (Colleen) Foht, Jr., Emily J. (Andrew) Dimperio, Melinda A. Foht, Alexis C. Foht, Meghan (Joseph) Cowart, Brittany (Scott) Taylor, Evan (Rachel) Wilson, Kendall Kerr and Anna Kerr; and two great-grandchildren, Bode Dimperio and Colt Cowart.In addition to his parents and his first wife Joan, he was preceded in death by 3 brothers, Wendell, Vernon and George Kerr; and 1 sister, Margaret Ethel Wagner.Visitation will be held on Tuesday, September 25, 2012 from 5:00-8:00 p.m. at the R. Cunningham Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc., 2429 Wilmington Road, New Castle.A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, September 26, 2012, at 12:00 p.m. at the funeral home. The Rev. Nathan Loudon will officiate.
