Oran Lee Allen went home to the Lord on June 26, 2019. He was the beloved husband of Esther, and the proud father of Barry (Christine) Allen, Dan Allen, Lisa (Michael) Reeher ,and Doug Allen who survive him. He is also survived by his grandchildren, Nicole (Michael) Wright, Ashley(Nick) Nardone, McKenna (Nathaniel) Dowdell, and Aubrey Reeher and his great grandchildren, Alexandria Nardone and Blanton Wright. Oran "Snuffy" Allen was born the only child of Mary Lou Grady Pixler Allen and Emerson C. Allen on April 19, 1935. He graduated from Shenango High School in 1953. He was an E6 Military Sergeant in the Army Reserves until he was honorably discharged. Snuffy worked at Vanport Stone and retired from Penn Power where he was a coal handler. He belonged to the Paws & Taws Western Square Dance Group for many years and greatly enjoyed the time he spent dancing and the friends he made. Snuffy was also active in his community by attending County Commissioner and Shenango Township meetings. He loved the many years he spent on his annual vacation to Myrtle Beach, South Carolina. He also enjoyed bus trips and attending shows in Branson, Missouri. On these vacations, he was accompanied by his wife and best friends with whom he loved spending time with. Spring was his favorite time of year and he loved planting and watching his gardens grow. He took great pleasure in sharing the fruits of his labor with friends and neighbors as well as keeping his lawn in prime condition. Visitation will be held be held Friday 4:00 - 7:00 PM and 10:00 - 11:00 AM on Saturday at the R. Cunningham Funeral Home & Crematory, Inc., 2429 Wilmington Road, New Castle. A funeral service will follow immediately after visitation on Saturday at 11:00 AM, with Rev. Frederick Gilbert, officiating.
