Patricia Louise Lyons, 87, formerly of Edinburg, PA, passed away peacefully surrounded by family and was reunited with her husband, son, and other beloved family members in her heavenly home on July 26, 2017. Patricia was born May 5, 1930 in New Castle, to the late Joseph R. and Lora E. Hensley. She was raised in a happy home with her one sister and two brothers. Patricia married Arthur S. Lyons in 1952 and enjoyed 32 blissful years of marriage. She was a devoted mother to 4, grandmother to 8, and great-grandmother to 18. Patricia loved art, particularly drawing and painting, nature, reading, and traveling. Patricia was a 1948 graduate of New Castle High School and a 1951 graduate of Jameson School of Nursing. She was employed as a registered nurse at Jameson Hospital and the Hospice of St. Francis until her retirement. She was a devoted Catholic and member of St. Pauls Church of New Middleton, OH in her later years. She is a former longtime member of St. James Church in New Bedford, PA. In her free time, Patricia enjoyed volunteering for Hospice and her church. Patricia is survived by one daughter, Lora Lyons of Seaside, California; two sons, A. Stephen (Lorrie) Lyons of Phoenix, Arizona; Rev. Charles M. (Tanya) Lyons of Hubert, NC whom she resided with at the time of her passing; one brother, Sam (Ann) Hensley, and all of her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband in 1984, her parents, son, Richard A. Lyons, brother Joseph Hensley and sister Anita Hensley. Visitation will be held Monday, July 31st from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm at the R. Cunningham Funeral Home, 2429 Wilmington Road, New Castle. Family and friends will meet at St. Pauls of New Middletown for a funeral service to take place at 11:00 am Tuesday, August 1st with Father Lawrence Frient officiating.
