On Tues. Feb. 14, 2023, Patricia Jean "Patty" Heasley (Drespling) died peacefully in her home in New Castle, at the age of 85.
Born March 4, 1937, to Michael and Doris Drespling, of Croton, Patty was a graduate of New Castle High School and went on to marry her childhood love, Jesse Scott "Joe" Heasley, for 65 beautiful years. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, daughter, and friend.
Patty was a lifelong parishioner and volunteer of Croton United Methodist Church and retired from Fisher's Big Wheel, in 1994, after several years of service. After retirement, she and Joe had a small business "PattyJoes Crafts and More" through which they sold handmade crafts at holiday craft fairs all over the tri-state area and out of their home. She was an avid crocheter and made hundreds of afghans by the end of her lifetime. She also enjoyed visiting the casino and playing the lottery.
She is survived by her husband, Jesse; sister, Karen Kazenski of Myrtle Beach, SC; brother, Michael (Linda) Drespling of Naples Hills, FL; three sons, Scott (Lisa) Heasley of New Castle, Kevin (Deb) Heasley of South Beloit, IL, and Jeffrey (Leeann) Heasley of New Castle; seven grandchildren: Michaelynn (Glen) Williams of Suffolk, VA, Stevilynn (Adam) Gwin of New Castle, Devan Heasley of Washington, PA, Trista Heasley of IL, Jocelyn Heasley of New Castle, Taylor (Michael) Manos of Stoneboro, PA, and Jaycob Heasley of New Castle; five great-grandchildren Jaxon, Ellie, Sadie, Harper, and Grayson; and numerous other loved ones.
She is preceded in death by her father and mother, Michael and Doris Drespling, sister, Sylvia Dubrock, and brother, Monty Drespling.
Visitation will be held on Fri. Feb. 17th from 5:00 – 8:00 PM and Sat. Feb. 18th from 10:00 – 11:00 AM at the R. Cunningham Funeral Home & Crematory, Inc., 2429 Wilmington Road, New Castle.
A funeral service will take place immediately following visitation, at the funeral home, on Sat. Feb. 18th at 11:00 AM with Pastor Darryl Lockie and Rev. John Jefferis, officiating.
Burial will be at Graceland Cemetery.
