Patricia J. Salmen, age 80, formerly of New Castle, passed away the afternoon of November 23, 2018 at Avalon Springs Place in Mercer, PA. Born December 15, 1937 in New Castle, she was the daughter of James and Wilda G. (Reese) Geddis. She is survived by her husband of 59 years, Robert M. Salmen, whom she married on August 8, 1959. A graduate of New Castle High School in 1955, Patricia was employed with Westminster College where she worked in the Student Union until her retirement. Patricia was a member of the Junior Womens Club and Good Shepherd Lutheran Church. In addition to reading, she enjoyed spending time with her family and with her beloved cat and companion, Tinkerbell. In addition to her husband who resides in Mercer, she is survived by one son, Robert (Laura) Salmen of Matthews, North Carolina; one daughter, Maureen Salmen of New Castle; one sister, Emily Cross of West Palm Beach, FL; one granddaughter, whom she helped raise, Brittany (Joshua) Miller of Bismarck, ND; and her three great-grandchildren who affectionately referred to her as GiGi who were the love of her life, Mason James Miller, Eliza Jane Miller and Lachlan Ashby Miller. She was preceded in death by her parents and one brother, James Geddis. In keeping with her wishes, there will be private services held at the convenience of the family.
