Paul Blair, 88, who lived at the Greer House, died on April 16, 2011 at UPMC Horizon Hospital in Farrell.Born in New Castle on April 7, 1923, he was the son of Ira and Helen Rich Blair, who are deceased. He worked for 10 years at the Shenango Pottery, before going with Columbia Gas of Pennsylvania, where he worked for 28 years before retiring. Paul was a 1942 graduate of New Castle High School, and also an avid golfer and local musician. He was a member of the First Assembly of God Church, where he played in the church orchestra, and also a member of the Craft/Westminister Masonic Lodge #433, and Valley of the New Castle Consistory.Survivors include a niece, Marjorie Black, of Alexandria, Virginia; and a nephew, Gary Blair, of Columbus, Ohio.In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Ira Blair, and two sisters, Harriet Black and Lois Blair.There will be no calling hours.A funeral service will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, April 20, 2011, at the R. Cunningham Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc., 2429 Wilmington Road. The Rev. Chad Stoecker and The Rev. Kenneth Meyer officiating. Burial will be in the Oak Hill Cemetery, Youngstown.
