Paul E. Carvella, 92, of New Castle, passed away the morning of March 6, 2022. Born December 9, 1929, in West Pittsburg, he was the son of Frank and Amelia (Sorbo) Caravella. He was preceded in death on December 28, 2005, by his wife of 49 years, Roberta (Spears) Carvella, whom he married February 19, 1956. A 1948 graduate of New Castle High School, he attended Carnegie Tech for one year before entering the Marine Corps where he served as a staff sergeant until 1952 during the Korean War. Paul was employed for 14 years with Townsend and Bottum General Contractors and retired as a construction supervisor on electric power plants. Among his interests, he enjoyed reading and watching sports, especially baseball. He is survived by a daughter, Melissa (Daniel) Barnes of New Castle; a son, Robert (Gretchen) Carvella of Mechanicsburg, PA; two sisters, Leanne Plohr of New Castle and Carolyn Hill of Erie; five grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by one brother, Cecil Carvella. A private service will be held for the family at the R. Cunningham Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc.
