Paul Adalbert Montgomery, 83, of New Castle, passed away the night of May 10, 2015 at the Butler VA Medical Center. Born February 22, 1932 in New Castle, he was a son of Glenn and Clara Cross Montgomery. Paul was a graduate of New Castle High School in 1949 and from Gettysburg College. He served his country in the U.S. Army from 1953-1955 during the Korean Conflict, achieving the rank of corporal. Paul was a photographer and co-owner of the former Montgomery Studio in New Castle. A 50 year member of the Lodge of the Craft #333, he also held membership in the Legion of Honor, New Castle Consistory, and the Syria Shrine. He was Past Exalted Ruler of the BPOE Elks #69. Paul was both a toy train collector and enthusiast. He also enjoyed times he spent fishing with his brother-in-law, and stamp collecting. He was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church. Survivors include one sister and brother-in-law, Rita and Harry Wilson of New Castle; one brother and sister-in-law, Ernest J. and Orlice Mongtomery of Las Vegas, NV; 5 nephews, Ernest (Ann) Montgomery, Timothy (Lisa) Montgomery, Randall (Cathy) Montgomery, Matthew (Susan) Montgomery, and Luke Wilson; 1 niece, Lisa (Bill) Polinsky; and great nieces and nephews, Dan, Brian, Deanna, Katherine and Mindy Montgomery, and Clara Polinsky. He was preceded in death by his parents. Visitation will be held on Thursday from 4:00-8:00 p.m. at the R. Cunningham Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc., 2429 Wilmington Road. A funeral service will be held Friday at 11:00 a.m. at St. John's Lutheran Church with Rev. Thomas McCurdy officiating. Burial will be in Graceland Cemetery.
