Peggy Murdock, 84, of New Castle, passed away the morning of Sept. 27, 2010 at her residence.Born April 22, 1926, in Sheffield, England, she was the daughter of William and Ellen Burton Adlington.She married Robert G. Murdock on Nov. 18, 1944. He preceded her in death earlier this year on June 9, 2010.She was a homemaker, a mother and a wife.Peggy was a member of Wimodausis and the New Castle Chapter 105 Eastern Star.She was a volunteer with Meals On Wheels for 36 years. Among her interests were knitting, baking, cooking, and several kinds of dancing with her husband.Peggy was an active member of Clen-Moore Presbyterian Church.She is survived by two daughters and one son-in-law, Cathy Lavoie of Waldorf, MD, and Peggy Ann and Dana Ruck of Reynoldsburg, OH; one son and daughter-in-law, Douglas and Karen Murdock of Chino Hills, CA; one brother, Ernest Adlington of Sheffield, England; one niece, Carol Denton also of Sheffield, England; five grandchildren, Michelle Mattson, Aimee Lavoie, Wendy Hamer, Travis Ruck and Angela Mettler; and six great grandchildren, Hannah Mattson, Nathan Mattson, Sophia Hamer, Nolan Hamer, Gabriel Krumholz and Kierra Ruck.In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by three brothers, Wilfred, Douglas and Kenneth Adlington; and one sister, Dorothy Locking.Visitation will be 9 to 11 a.m. Saturday, October 2, 2010, at the R. Cunningham Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc., 2429 Wilmington Road.A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, October 2, 2010, at the funeral home. The Rev. Chris Weichman will officiate.Burial will be in Castle View Gardens.In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorial contributions be made to Meals On Wheels, P. O. Box 5122, New Castle, PA 16105.
