Phyllis I. Schwartz, 81, formerly of New Castle, passed away January 20, 2014 at her home in Hermitage, PA. Born October 22, 1932 in Pittsburgh, PA, she was a daughter of Albert and Vivian Narvolansky Solomon. Surviving at home is her husband of 62 years, Martin Schwartz. Phyllis attended University of Pittsburgh and was an office manager with Stanley B. Kraus and Associates. She was a member of Temple Hadar Israel and active with the Temple Hadar Israel Sisterhood. She also was a member of the New Castle Hadassah and the National Council of Jewish Women.In addition to her husband she is survived by a son, Stuart Schwartz and his fiance' Regina Laird, of Pittsburgh; two grandchildren, Abby Boyd and Ben Kripps; and one great-grandchild, Tara Boyd. She was preceded in death by her parents; one daughter, Terry Woodside; and a brother, Ira Solomon. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, January 22, 2014, from 12:00-1:00 at the R. Cunningham Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc., 2429 Wilmington Road, New Castle. A service will take place immediately following visitation Wednesday, January 22, 2014, at 1:00 p.m. at the funeral home and will be officiated by Rabbi Howie Stein.
