Phyllis A. Story, 86, of Park Avenue, passed away the afternoon of December 15, 2013 at Avalon Nursing Center. Born October 25, 1927 in Beaver, PA, she was a daughter of Calvin and Ina Heckathorne White. She was preceded in death on July 2, 1988 by her husband of 41 years, Harry Story, Jr., whom she married May 29, 1947. Phyllis was a homemaker who enjoyed shopping and listening to country music. She was a member of the New Castle Eagles Club #455 Ladies Auxiliary. Phyllis is survived by her son Phillip Story, with whom she made her home in New Castle; two daughters, Ina Orr and Susan White, both of New Castle; two sisters, Irene Ellis of Pittsburgh, and Dorie Sharps of Georgia; 7 grandchildren; and 6 great grandchildren. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by two sisters, Evelyn Hird and Rachael Todd; and two brothers, Richard Story and Nathaniel Story. Visitation will be held from 11:00-12:00 Wednesday, December 18, 2013, at the R. Cunningham Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc., 2429 Wilmington Road. A memorial service will be held Wednesday, December 18, 2013, immediately following visitation at 12:00 at the funeral home and will be officiated by Rev. Chuck Fombelle. Burial will be in Graceland Cemetery.
