Phyllis Irene Wright, age 83, of New Castle, passed away the afternoon of Oct. 12, 2023, at Quality Life Services – New Castle.

Born Nov. 12, 1939, in New Castle, she was the daughter of the late Frank and Esther (Sorger) Maiella.

She married Ronald Lee Wright on March 25, 1960. He preceded her in death on Jan. 29, 2021.

Phyllis was a 1957 graduate of Shenango High School. Among her varied interests, she loved being outside and working in her yard. Phyllis enjoyed going to amusement parks and was an avid Pittsburgh Pirates fan. What she treasured the most, was the time she spent with her family. Phyllis attended First Baptist Church.

She is survived by her granddaughter, Jen (Kyle) Unger, of New Castle; one brother Frank (Sandy) Maiella of North Carolina; one sister, Linda (Norman) Hawkins of New Castle; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents and husband, Phyllis was preceded in death by one daughter, Kimberly A. Richardson, and her siblings, Marion, Rose, Marlene and Richard.

Visitation will be held on Monday. Oct. 16th from 3:00 PM– 6:00 PM at the R. Cunningham Funeral Home & Crematory, Inc., 2429 Wilmington Road, New Castle.

A funeral service will take place, immediately following visitation, at 6:00 PM with Rev. John Yergan officiating.

Burial will alongside her husband and daughter at Graceland Cemetery.
