R. Keith Reed, 78, of Ellwood Road, New Castle, passed away on Friday, December, 16th, 2011 at his residence.Born May, 17th, 1933, he was the son of the late Joseph D and Margretta Patton Reed. He married the former F. Jean Burkey on June, 27, 1953, she preceded him in death on February, 22nd, 2007.Mr. Reed graduated from Mt. Jackson High School in 1952. Through out his life his employment included being a driver for both McCarter Bus Tours and McNicholas Trucking. He worked in sales for Beltone Hearing Aids, was the owner of the Castleview Lounge in Edinburg for 13, years and most recently operated Reed's Krafts building bird houses and bird f.Keith loved wood working especially building his bird houses, he also liked to sing and was an avid Steelers fan. He was a Mason and a social member of the VFW. Keith was a member of Independent Methodist Church and also attended Mt. Jackson Presbyterian Church where he sang in the choir.He is survived by five daughters, Cindy Wimer and her companion, Rudy Hageter, Janice (Ken) Jones, Kim (Don) Cunningham, Ronalyn (Wayne) Parsons and Lisa Bathurst; and one son Joseph (Corrine) Reed; 13 grandchildren; and 5 great-grandchildren. He is also survived by a sister and brother-in-law Eileen (Robert) Byers.In addition to his parents and wife, Mr. Reed was preceded in death by a grandson Allan McCullough and two brothers Richard and William Reed.Visitation will be Tuesday, December 20th, 2011, from 2:00 until 4:00 p.m. and 6:00 until 8:00 p.m, at the R. Cunningham Funeral Home and Crematory, 2429 Wilmington Rd. New Castle.A funeral service will take place on Wednesday, December 21, 2011 at 2:00 p.m. at the funeral home with the Rev. Frederick Gilbert officiating. Burial will follow in Mt. Jackson Cemetery.
