Raymond P. McCurley, age 96 of Mount Jackson, passed away on June 20, 2022, at his residence. He was born in North Beaver Township on the family farm in 1926 to Willis Burton and Mary Ellen Fullerton McCurley, the fourth of six children. He graduated in 1944 from Mount Jackson High School. Following his service in the Army Air Corp (Air Force) as an Aviation Cadet during WWII, he married Eileen J. Gwin who predeceased him in 2000. Raymond worked most of his life in the trucking business either as a mechanic or long-haul driver. He knew how to fix mostly anything and was so proud of building his round house where he lived the last 50 years. Raymond was a lifelong member of Westfield Presbyterian Church where he served as a Deacon, a Trustee, and sang in the choir. He loved to travel, river cruising was his favorite, and visited more than 20 countries around the world with his surviving wife, Susan J. (Wise) McCurley whom he married June 20, 2001. He is also survived by his brother, Wilbur A. McCurley, sister, Thelma A. Powell, sons: J. Bruce McCurley, Terry R. McCurley, J. Dickson (Dick) McCurley, Timothy P. McCurley, daughter Rhonda J. Winkler, grandsons Jeffrey P. McCurley, and Scott A. McCurley, and great grandchildren Quentin, Deacon, Emerson, and Gracen, and several nieces and nephews. Beside his parents, Raymond was preceded in death by his brother Willis J. McCurley, and two sisters, Marie M. Carlton and Margaret E. (Peg) Wallace. Visitation will be on Thursday, June 23, 2022, from 4:00 to 7:00 PM, at Westfield Presbyterian Church, 1363 Mt. Jackson Rd., New Castle, PA 16102. A funeral service to follow at 7:00 PM led by Rev Dr. Bobby Griffith and the New Castle Area Honor Guard, will be performing military rites. Burial will be at Westfield Cemetery. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be given to Foundations of Hope at Westfield Presbyterian Church or to a charity of the donor's choice. Arrangements have been entrusted to the R.
