Raymond Doug Smith, age 74, of New Castle, went to be with the Lord the evening of October 31, 2016 at his residence. Born March 29, 1942 in Wallace, West Virginia, he was the son of Arthur G. and Josephine Baker Smith. He is survived by his loving wife of 20 years, Julianne Abranovich Smith, whom he married on October 12, 1996. Raymond was employed as a mechanic with Penn Power Company. A car enthusiast, Ray enjoyed both antique cars and muscle cars and frequenting car shows. He also liked antiquing and going to flea markets with his friends. Ray was very creative; often having the wisdom to see what most could not. A member of the Faith Gospel Fellowship family, Raymond had a love for the Lord and was faithful in praying for those in need. In addition to his wife, he is survived by his daughter Diane Lapinski of West Middlesex, and his future son-in-law, Shane Eppinger; one brother, Kenneth (Cathie) Smith of Albuquerque, NM; and one sister, Marjorie Ann Gibas of New Castle. He was preceded in death by his parents. Visitation will be held on Saturday, November 12, from 10:00-12:00 at the R. Cunningham Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc., 2429 Wilmington Road, New Castle. A Memorial Service will take place immediately following visitation Nov. 12 at 12:00 p.m. at the funeral home with Pastor Sam Hill officiating.
