Dennis Lee Bupp, 77, of Grove City, Pennsylvania, passed away on June 30, 2020. He was born to parents Linton G. Bupp and Margaret "Peggy" Bupp, on April 30, 1943 in New Castle, Pennsylvania. Dennis graduated from New Castle High School in 1961 and then attended Slippery Rock College before going on to Nyack College to study Christian Education. It was there that he developed a love for the bible, especially eschatological studies and Revelations. While at Nyack he answered the call into full-time ministry and graduated in 1966 with a Bachelors in Theology. Along with his love for the bible at college he also met the love of his life, Arlene Joy McGarvey. They were married after graduation on December 22, 1967 at Simpson Memorial Chapel in Nyack, New York. As they began their ministry together they served as co-pastors of Cambridge Springs Alliance Church. They then followed the call of God into World Missions and attended the Jaffrey School of Missions before being appointed by the Christian and Missionary Alliance(CMA)as missionary's to Taiwan. After one term on the mission field they returned stateside and remained to pastor the CMA Church in Fort Lauderdale, FL. In 1979 Dennis felt called to leave Florida and move his growing family to New Castle, Pennsylvania with a promise from God for Revival, "Behold I am doing a new thing"(Isaiah 43:19). In the 80's God gave Dennis and Joy a ministry to young married couples and they led various bible studies and prayer meetings at church and at home. Through his burden for revival he also hosted a radio program called "Voice of Revival" on WKST and along with other local ministers began a weekly prayer meeting for revival at the New Castle YMCA that lasted for over 20 years. In 1985 he started his ministry as Chaplain at Jameson Hospital. In addition, he also served as chaplain for St. Francis, Jameson Hospice and the Youth Development Center(YDC). After 26 Years years of service, he retired from Jameson Hospital in 2011. In his retirement he was a Chaplain for Marketplace Chaplains and officiated many weddings and funerals in Lawrence and surrounding counties. He, along with his lifelong ministry partner, also made missionary journeys to China and because of their love for the Jewish people, ten trips to Israel. In later years, he and joy shared an on-line ministry through "www.hiswatchmen.net" in which Dennis blogged and ministered until his final week of battling an extended illness. Dennis is survived by Margaret "Peggy" Bupp, mother Dr. Barry Bupp (Gail), brother Deborah Moran (Paul), sister and his 5 children, 16 grandchildren and 1 great-grandchild child: Rev. Dennis Mark Bupp (Shelia), Rev. Matthew Lee Bupp (Debbie), Miriam Whipple (Thomas), Michael Jay Bupp (Tish), Nathaniel Lee Bupp (Marjolein). He was preceded in death by Arlene Joy, and Linton G. Bupp, father and Gail Bupp, his sister in law. Visitation will be held on Monday, July 6, from 3:00-7:00 p.m. at the R. Cunningham Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc., 2429 Wilmington Road, New Castle. A joint Memorial Service will be held for Dennis and Joy on Tuesday, July 7, at 1:00 p.m. at First Alliance Church, 111 Mission Meade Drive, New Castle, with the Rev. Frederick H. Gilbert officiating. Dennis will be laid to rest beside his wife in Castle View Cemetery.
