Richard C. Eardley, age 88, of Wampum, PA, passed away the night of September 22, 2024, at his home.

Born June 6, 1936, in New Castle, he was the son of Isaac and Garnet (Saylor) Eardley.

He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Shirley (Surrena) Eardley, whom he married May 9, 1959.

After attending the New Castle schools, he served his country in the U.S. Army.

Richard was employed with Penn Power for 35 years as a foreman in the power plant until his retirement.

He was an active member of the American Legion Post 343 and a volunteer with the Hoyt Institute of Fine Arts. He enjoyed photography, woodworking, bee keeping and painting.

Mr. Eardley was a member of Savannah United Methodist Church and sang in the church choir. He was formerly a member of Second U.P. church where he previously sang in the children's choir.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by one daughter, Tracey (Joseph) Sizer of Edinburg, PA; one son, Richard (Lynne) Eardley of Wampum, PA; one sister, Beatrice Pagley of Ellwood City; 4 grandchildren, 2 step-grandchildren, 1 great-grandchild and 6 step- great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Robert Eardley.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, Sept. 26, from 4:00-6:00 p.m. at the R. Cunningham Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc., 2429 Wilmington Road, New Castle.

A service will take place immediately following the visitation at 6:00 with Pastor Adam Goswick officiating.

Burial will be in Oak Park Cemetery.
