Richard H. Dean, 74, of Shenango Township, passed away at his residence the afternoon of May 7, 2015.
Born August 18, 1940 in Ellwood City, PA., he was a son of George A. and Helen L. Haydo Dean.
Surviving at home is his wife of 44 years, Linda Reed Dean, whom he married May 23, 1970.
A 1958 graduate of Shenango High School, he attended Allegheny Technical Institute.
Richard served his country in the U.S. Army from 1959-1962.
In 1985 he retired from Bell Telephone where he was employed as an installer and a lineman. Prior, he was employed with Mesta Machine and the Mellor Pipe Organ Company.
Among his many interests, Mr. Dean was a CB radio enthusiast, and enjoyed hunting, woodworking, and could often be found tinkering in his garage.
He was a member of Castlewood Christian and Missionary Alliance Church.
In addition to his wife Linda, he is survived by one daughter, Amy S. (Donald) McCready of New Galilee; one son, Richard P. Dean of Pittsburgh; two brothers, David (Jeanne) Dean and Robert (Jacki) Dean all of New Castle; and two grandchildren, Adam and Noah Anfetouak.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
At his families request, there will be no calling hours.
A Memorial Service will take place on Monday, May 11, at 7:00 p.m. at the Castlewood C&MA Church, 660 Harmony Baptist Road, New Castle. The Rev. James O'Hara will be officiating.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Multiple Sclerosis Society of Western PA, 1501 Reedsdale Street, Suite 105, Pittsburgh, PA 15233, or the American Cancer Society, 3208B Wilmington Road, New Castle, PA 16105.
