Richard "Rick" McNicholas, age 59, of New Castle, passed away the morning of June 22, 2016 at his residence. Born July 14, 1956 in New Castle, he was a son of Herbert and Mary Tolkacevik McNicholas. Rick was preceded in death on January 15, 2009 by his wife of 32 years, Pamela Ross McNicholas, whom he married March 13, 1976. He served in the U.S. Air Force during peacetime. Rick was proud to take after his father in being an employee of the U.S. Postal Service where he served as a clerk. He was also the treasurer of the Postal Workers Union. Most important to Rick was spending time with his grandchildren. He was of Catholic faith. He is survived by his loving mother, Mary; one son, James Richard McNicholas of New Castle; three brothers, Mark (Lorraine) McNicholas of North Carolina, John (Gayle) McNicholas of Arizona, and David (Sherrie) McNicholas of New Castle; one sister, Barb (Tom) Ronan of New Castle; and four grandchildren, Braden Anthony Mancini, Trinity Rae McNicholas, Chase Alekzander McNicholas, and Aiden William McNicholas. In addition to his father and his wife, he was preceded in death by one brother, Edward (Patricia) McNicholas. In keeping with Richard's wishes, there will be no calling hours or service.
